Classic vehicle pill

Why haven’t you taken the pill yet anon? Modern cars are pure shit, and they’re computerized to the point where the government can literally shut down if not control your vehicle. It is the safest and most based option for driving.

>>513808069
You have to get the ignition system and electrical timing out of the vehicle to be emp proof. 60s cars still has ignition systems (but no electrical timing, since cars that old used carburator instead of fuel injectors). Older cars still used spark ignition. Diesels work with compression ignition, so no spark plugs, distributors, etc. Aka no electricity

absolutely can be shut down by EMP. you'd have to go to pre 1970 to find something immune to an EMP. there are some diesel injection cars/trucks from the 70s that would survive as well, only because they have mechanical injection. I used to collect motorcycles and those used something called an ignighter box, which used a very rudimentary micro controller, apparently they were in cars too.

Saved this thing from getting crushed in 2019. All local mechanics said it was too far gone (frame rot) and the cost to repair it would exceed the value of the car. Proved them all wrong after I found a reliable welder willing to do the work for cheap. Today it's still my daily driver. Car does have blowby (which just means I need to refill the oil every 2 weeks) and a few other minor problems, but nothing that can't be fixed. Pretty reliable for the most part.

I believe this was the real reason behind the cash for clunkers debacle. Any 20+ year old vehicle is likely clapped the fuck out. It will not be reliable unless it is fully restored. Even then, the parts available now are total shit. After 15 years, most manufacturers stop making replacement parts and the only parts available are aftermarket. Every aftermarket parts company has been taken over by kikes and sells chink made shit.

Most parts have a 1 in 5 failure rate out of the box. Even if it doesn't fail right away, it lives for 40,000 miles at most, where the original part went 120k+.

If it takes you 1.5 hours on average to disassemble and reassemble components to replace a part-- you now must do that for every 40k instead of 120k. Multiply this times every shit autoparts store part you have put on the vehicle. Also consider your average normie is not a professional mechanic. They are a parts swapper. When 1 out 5 parts is fucked from the get go-- how are they supposed to know how to triage each part on a pre ODBII vehicle? How much time are they gonna spend learning all this before they can actually go somewhere and not worry about breaking down and being shot by niggers? If you are going this route, stock shit like pic related and be prepared to turn wrenches the rest of your life.

It's the Toyota tax, anon. The ones that refuse to depreciate are the ones that refuse to die, no matter how clapped out or how many miles- peace of mind comes at a premium.
Nobody can afford anything anywhere right now- at least in the states mouthbreathing social-validation-seeking retards get to finance that shit at 30% APR, pushing the note on a new truck around for a few months before it ends up gathering dust in a repo lot. It's really not new truck prices- go check the videos from BladedAngel or any of the videos from that dude watching car note tiktoks- 30k can, at best, buy you a pre-owned shitbox if you're shopping new. At least when you dump it into a 10 year old Toyota, you know you won't end up with a piston-shaped hole in the block by the end of the first year.
American car manufacturers are a total joke- as are all the fucking rest. All the new cars are trying to move up a fucking tax bracket- even new Jeeps cost a fucking wagon of cash despite being built like a Soviet panel bloc (welded by drunk Vietnamese labor-camp slaves with no respect to tolerances or proper fitment. New cars are a scam, glad you managed to get a relatively new truck at all- at least Toyota managed to survive a decade before they started recalling cars over horrendous engineering.

It's entirely because of marketing. They see that Top Gear episode and the Taliban using them, and they suddenly think they're the greatest thing on the planet.
They completely ignore you when you talk about actual known problems like the $2bn fine Toyota had to pay for knowingly selling Hiluxes that are literally guaranteed to blow a DPF. Or the GR Corolla that lights itself on fire, but it's your own fault because you drove it too fast. Or the known problems in the northern hemisphere where they have far worse rust prevention than any other Japanese brand.
Or even just the little fact that if anybody's had the displeasure of sitting in a rental or Uber Camry in the last few years, they'll know that they dropped the roofline and it's now physically impossible for a 6' tall adult to sit in one without their head touching metal.

The fact is that Aussie larpers are all using Rangers now, South African farmers are using GWMs, and the durkadurka retards waging holy wars were never very smart to begin with.
Toyota has gone to absolute shit.

You're right about the "want what you can't have" mindset though. Same reason why they goon over Skylines but don't give a fuck about completely comparable cars like Mustangs from the same year.

You are not daily driving a 5k classic car anymore unless you turn wrenches and keep it barely going down the road as a shitbox. In that case there are cheaper shitboxes available from the early 2000's with cheaper parts and easier to diagnose systems. A 3.8 GM anything. A panther Ford. A manual corolla or civic, a 5.3 vortec truck or late FI 300 inline ford, etc.

An old car is fine for a boomer or gen-xer that grew up with these things. But if you want it reliable to goto work and back, you are putting 25k of parts in it and don't ask about the labor required or the insurance cost to get it to daily status with agreed upon value. You are also now an idiot magnet. Every fucking idiot on the road will stop thinking when they see a "cool car" and drive right into the side of you. Those who have them know this phenomena. I won't take mine anywhere near a major city or interstate.

Rust isn't a problem in most of the country, only on the humid coast areas.

240DL redbook was fucking indestructible. Except the ac, it was shit. It was also ugly and gutless. But absolutely indestructible.

My 70's Mav with an inline six was awesome too. It broke down occasionally (Ford) and needed stuff but it could always be fixed on the side of the road and NOS parts were $14 in the early 90's-- regardless of the part. AC was ice cold.

Nowadays, all the parts available for a 70's Mav would be chink shit that doesn't even fit out of the box and cost a minimum of $85.

get a 3D printer for plastic stuff and learn to fabricate basic metal pieces. it'll save you so much money in the long run, especially on less common vehicles. you need my cock.

Umm. No. The whole upper Midwest salts the roads all winter and cars there rust out faster than they do in Florida.

Rust isn't an issue where I am at, but anything rubber, cloth or plastic falls to pieces if left outside within 5-7 years.

Already had one. It sat idle and I weld steel shit and fig it, like a real man. Plastic is for women. Wife's cricket is useful for gaskets though.

I got this 1978 nova for 2,000$ it's 3 on the tree, 250 inline 6, mono carb, has a bit of rust on the right rocker panels and rear quarter panel, but it's so easy to fix, all you need is a socket set a flat head and a Phillips head, just cleared out the flue filter cus it was running bad, now it's running like a champ.

Anything late model IDI (Toyota, Nissan 4.2, Ford 6.9/7.3, dodge 5.9 12 valve, Chevy 6.5) with a turbo charger.
Inline 6 diesel being most desirable and easy to work on and natural harmonics guarantees durability, with Inline 6 gas being a close second.
Either way, anything mid 90's is what you want.
