libreoffice discards windows 7 support!
remember when microsoft showed middle finger to win7 users? no longer word and excel documents for you

well now the freeware developers do the same shit!

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/25.8

LibreOffice 25.8 has landed, and while it packs in new features and speed improvements, the biggest headline is who just got left behind.

>If you are still running Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1, this is the end of the road.

LibreOffice will not run on those systems anymore, and there are no workarounds. However it is possible someone invents a compatibility layer but that seems a lot of work and there isnt one right now. For sure libreoffice developers themselves arent going to bother.

For years, LibreOffice kept older Windows users afloat while Microsoft and other developers moved on. That lifeline is gone. Anyone stubbornly clinging to Windows 7 or 8 now has two choices: upgrade or stay stuck on outdated software. Like libreoffices previous version which would still work.

And the cuts do not stop there.

>32-bit Windows (Windows 10 had a 32-bit version as well!) builds are on their way out, with deprecation already in place

The problem is even linux is getting kiked. This whole bullshit with ReiserFS is a perfect example of perfectly fine running software getting "deprecated" because the writer is guilty of wrong think.
Not to mention their absolute disregard for the GPL and how they are selling these peoples work without compensation.
It's almost getting to the point where you are going to have to write and compile your own OS if you want something not fucked by corporations.

Windows 7 is significantly outdated. If you don’t want to use newer versions of Windows at least use a recent flavor of Linux

The only reason people love win 7 is because it's more simple to use than the next ones, some still use it because of nostalgia, and others just don't want to buy win 11 and doesn't have the brain cells needed to download a flavor of linux.

Bro please. The murder happened in 2006 and ReiserFS was removed from the kernel in 2022. I don't see a real connection. You can still add it to and use it with your Linux system if you want to, there is literally nothing stopping you. It's just an ancient filesystem that would stop working anyways in 2038 and not many people were using it anyways.

It's quite interesting that all of this shit is easily bypassed by simply faking Win 10 or 11. This shit is just virtual signaturing. There are literally no 10 or 11 functions that are REQUIRED for an office program to work.

The writer is not guilty of wrongthink, he is an insufferable faggot who keeps fucking shit up, ignoring the practices Linux demands be used in order to prevent regressions, and then goes on a tirade every single time someone points it out. It it surprising that his shit file system was deprecated out of the kernel years ago.
