How do you expect the Democrats to backpedal away from trans rights?
So the Dems have been hugely losing support, and by now it's clear that "let the GOP tear itself apart" is no guarantee of victory.
One of the hugest elephants in the room, IMO, is their support for trans rights. It's been pissing off many women, parents, gays and lesbians, ethnic and religious minorities, and even students.
Another huge elephant in the room would be Israel and Gaza, but that one's more specific and doesn't impact the average Joe as directly.
Now obviously, they can't just say "oops we were wrong about trans people" tomorrow. They'd need to pivot slowly. But, like, how will they do it? Progressives aren't exactly known for their ability to compromise. The moment you denounce sports participation, bathroom usage, pride events, or transition for minors, even if you still support other aspects of trans rights, you're an evil transphobe no different from Bob McEvangelist or Craig Conservapodcast, the logic being that doing so means you no longer affirm that trans people are their preferred gender.
Nevertheless, I feel that that's the direction in which the Dems are heading. But they'd have to get a bit creative with their mental gymnastics in order to succeed. How do you expect they'll do it?
