Democracy is shitty but theoretical agency is still better than absolute zero agency.

Actually it isn't, because the greater the divergence between a) how power is actually wielded and where it actually resides and b) where it is formally recognized as residing, the more corrupt, inefficient, and dysfunctional the system becomes, because the actual power holders become progressively more UNACCOUNTABLE. When you pin down and drag into the light the actual power holders, it is easier to hold them accountable for their malfeasance, even in a system where where they can formally do whatever they warn

This is true thats why direct democracy the only real democracy is demonized and supressed. Cant bribe half of the nation.
Rule of bureaucrats is not democracy. Getting to pick bureaucrat thats allowed to lie to you or doesnt have actuall power to do anything is also not democracy.
