They had the comesy club on the strip in LA. You couldnt have a better comedy club enviroment. He thought he coukd recreate that in austin. Nobody visits austin. Texas is a shithole. LA is much nicer even with the bums everywhere.

LA has fallen though, its not what it used to be at all. i moved there in 2011 when i was 20 and moved away when i was 33, it was totally changed after BLM, i still have family there and its only gotten worse in the past 2 years since i left.

i lived in LA from 2015-2024. The police completely gave up after 2020. They don't want to deal with homeless, but you'll still see people getting traffic violations. It's two tiered policing. If I was a schizo babbling homeless dude i could walk into a grocery store and take what i want and no one wants ro deal with me, but if I am a productive member of society i have to pay up (grocery stores also raise their prices to account for theft). Not to mention working here as a white man radicalized me on DEI policies but I wont get into that now.

I considered movie to Texas but then I remembered how awful the weather was when I was down there for work during summer.

I've gone to so many parts of the country and I'm just outright miserable. It's either too cold, too hot, too humid, always cloudy or raining. Nothing beats SoCal weather. I fucking hate it. There's gotta be some place that matches.

Also, the writer/producer strike took billions of dollars out of LA economy. I used to rent a house with two other dudes that were in the movie industry. Both of moved back to their east coast cities after that. These guys werent stage stooges they were making $80k+ doing post production shit. Both of them lost their (union) jobs. One of them had worked for his company over 10 years. It is collapsing and that is why i decided to move. In the end I was paying 2.5k to a rent a 3 bedroom house and there were homeless EVERYWHERE. I felt like I was getting swindled.
