Literally every time I go to Vegas I slip the person at the front desk of 50 or 100 and they immediately upgrade my room. There’s cheap booze and food at stores and liquor store stores, but you have to leave the strip. I found this breakfast place that has steak and eggs for $12 and it’s not even that far from the strip you can walk there.I don’t understand why this is so hard to understand. People complaining about Vegas have probably never been to Vegas nor will ever go.

They used to have $5 or $10 prime rib, king crab, and lobster tail buffets. Now they're $50 for roast beef.
They used to have the hotel room cost some trivial amount like $50 and it was an actually good hotel room. Now its $450 for a basic suite.
They used to have free shows with big headliners to attract tourists, now tickets are $50 a piece for carrot top or blue man group.
Airfare used to be almost free to get there, now its $500 for a ticket.
I don't gamble because the one time I did go to vegas for a salesman conference, I got a "free" $20 that I had to put with my own $10, I played a slot machine for 8 spins and that money was gone. I don't really understand why people gamble after that because it wasn't $30 of entertainment. I guess I could have done the quarter per spin and sat there for 45 minutes, but watching a screen display fake spins I can do that at home for free.

Plus with indian casinos across the country that still have the "affordable fun" model are just as good as Vegas.

Look it's real simple. Unless they're within driving distance of Vegas, nobody wants to spend $1000 for plane tickets and a hotel room for the weekend. On top of losing whatever money they came to gamble with when it's much easier to get your gambling fix somewhere closer to home. This worked when Vegas was a gambling mecca. Folks would do a year's worth of gambling in a weekend. But now most states have casinos and online gambling is prevalent. Addicts don't have to leave the house, old ladies can get to a casino in less than an hour, and the only people going to Vegas were there for the cheap steak/ hotel/ booze. Many of them skipped gambling altogether. This wasn't a sustainable model some the hotel/steak/cocktail are each priced to a reasonable margin, and there's no reason to go to Vegas at all.
