MAJOR HAPPENING!!! Alaska Marine Lines will no longer ship electric vehicles due to fire risk!!!
These retarded cars are catching fire and you can't put them out. The used to park them in a certain place and have these fire blankets to throw on the in case something happened.

https://alaskapublic.org/news/public-safety/2025-08-20/alaska-marine-lines-will-no-longer-ship-electric-vehicles-due-to-fire-risk

Alaska Marine Lines will no longer ship electric vehicles or plug-in hybrid vehicles to Alaska or Hawaii.

Last week, the barge company announced the policy change in a statement due to the fire risk associated with shipping large lithium ion batteries.

AML’s decision to stop shipping electric vehicles means reduced access for communities off the road system in Southeast Alaska, where EVs have become an increasingly popular option.

Nobody would be that stupid would they? Buying an ev in a state that is below 0c for 9 months out of the year with basically no infrastructure outside anchorage?

Evs work in California, and major urban centers in the lower 48 where daily commutes and charging aren’t a challenge.

Trust me you do not want to be in the cold wilderness without something that’s waste product is heat

You are full retard. Alaska isn't that cold and we have hydro electric, my electric bill is around $60 a month and the EPA mandated paved roads because of dust from dirt pollution. It's funny seeing a town of 1000 with paved roads and sidewalks.

Always super weird and cringy the way conservatives get all hopped up about what makes a car go.

Like, it's a consumer product, bro.

I just realized that most of my neighbors have electric cars and none of them park them in their garage. There on the street or driveway.

Stupid meme that'll never go anywhere when the browning of America means the inevitable decline of the electric grid.
Just like these retards thought they could jam patels in semi trucks for burger flipping wages and people wouldn't notice how bad semi drivers are in 2025.

Weird. On the Canada side of the border we just have the water truck drive around and spray water on the road from the treatment facility.

People in Alaska mostly live where it's the "warmest".
Thanks to the Pacific Ocean's stream going north, Alaska has a milder climate than where I live, despite the fact I am way down south compared to them.

Most people cant afford gas cars, let alone electric. If youre buying an electric car its because you already have 2 decent gas/diesel vehicles already and can afford to drive only in the milder weather towns like those in south east and south west coast. Besides, the weather even still is unpredictable and causes problems that 9 times out of 10 are detrimental to electric cars. They are a very poor investment especially as a dedicated drive around when most families cant even afford decent tires.

No. Basicly in the south most places are isolated islands. Both physical islands and land without connecting paved roads.
To travel between them you must own a boat or purchase space on one.
To then get anywhere once you arrive by boat you need a vehicle.
To go to Costco for example requires purchasing space on a ferry for your car, then traveling to the Costco island, then filling the vehicle full of groceries, then putting it back on the ferry back to the home island.

If the ferry does not allow EV then you cannot get groceries in the EV. If you can't do anything with the EV besides drive the 5-15 miles on one isolated island then owning an EV becomes pointless.
This effectively kills most of the EV market there.

Why would you want an EV? Probably because they rarely drive far on islands so reduced range is not a problem, and you don't have to find fuel or a gas station which only the more populated islands will have.

People akso use ferries from washington to alaska to bypass canada. Canada doesn't even allow travel with guns and everyone in Alaska is armed or going on a hunting/fishing trip they want to be armed on.

I just really like engines, it doesn’t have much to do with my political beliefs.

However, I do believe the EV craze is an astroturfed money grab and that modern vehicles are purposely designed to prevent future repair. All to make people more reliant on corporations/government and less self sufficient. This just aids in achieving the end goal of total dystopian control.
