Why does wealth inequality matter?
Did you know that only a small percentage of the population owns all of the x-ray machines in existance? It's immediately obvious why that is. Most people don't own or care to own one. So why do people think it's unfair that factories, warehouses, office buildings and bulk carriers are owned by a select few? The reason is the same with the x-ray machines: They are not useful in other people's hands. Being an entrepreneur requires owning more assets than being an employee. Leftists talk about net-worth as if it's all liquid cash that can be readily chucked off a rooftop down to homeless people when really most of it is in the form of productive assets.
Plus, the reason why inequality is growing is because the demands of the lower classes are growing. We are not a wheat and minerals economy anymore. Even the poorest people in society demand advanced medicine, sophisticated electronic devices with advanced chips and circuitry, cars with components from all over the planet and an internet connection. This is why it will only grow more in the future. Asteroid-mining, fusion energy and widespread anti-ageing cures can only be developed on trillion-dollar budgets.
Inequality doesn't matter. Only baseline living standards do. If these are going up who cares what the others are doing? All the whining is from envious people with an autistic obsession for some numbers being equal.
