That depends on which interpretation of time travel you believe in.
The deterministic view states that time travel is futile because even if you go back and change things, random chance will conspire to cause the events of that world to unfold the same anyway.
Alternatively, if you believe in multiple timelines then the very act of going back in time has caused subtle deviations that will cascade over time meaning none of your knowledge from the previous timeliness would be accurate in the long term, even if you dont actually do anything at all.
Even then though, since what you are effectively doing is jumping between worldlines, there would be no sense in going back in time to change an event, since you could just jump to one of an infinite number of parallel worlds where it just never happened for some reason.
