Which way, white man?
Trumps platform:
If billion dollar corporations are going to receive billions from tax payers in the form of subsidies , then We the People will own 10% of the company to get that tax payer money back and some to pay off the debt. Nothing forced. Investment in both parties. Stock has already generated over $1.9B for tax payers.

Democrats platform:
Give corporations billions of tax dollars (2022 CHIPS Act) increasing their profits with nothing in return leaving tax payers to deal with the burden.

It's a good plan, but state-owned enterprise is like the central pillar of communism.

The government is already practicing socialism with the gordian web of federal contracting. Corporation gets tax breaks, government gets free shit, it's corrupt and usually criminal but the money mostly balances out. I've never seen a reason why the government shouldn't directly participate in the market and manufacturing sector.

A 10% stake is both a lot and nothing. It's enough to help choose direction, but it can easily be out voted.

I can't say I care for the decision, but being able to produce world beating chips domestically is extremely important from a defense and economic standpoint. We were fucked during covid due to lack of chips.

It'll also unironically never happen.
If anyone's chip industry is benefitting from America's bumbling efforts to onshore chip development, it's China's.
