>>513944420 (OP)Yes, but "Treue" is distinct from loyalty (which would be "Loyalität" in German). Often, there's a threefold set of values of "Ehre, Treue, Loyalität" (Honor, Trueness, Loyalty), sometimes with "Stolz" (~pride, but again, not in the way the english use the term) added.
"Treue" is close to the "TRVE" stuff metalheads, punks and goths like to talk about. Basically combining aspects of morality (not betraying your comrades or your country) with some liberal conservatism (being willing to defend the abstract rights of "the people" against anybody, including people you might have sworn loalty to) and personal honor.
It's actually kinda hard to explain in English, as the english language has (deliberately?) reduced the concept of loyalty to one of blind obedience, just like they changed the concept of pride from "I'll murder you if you insult this" to "I did this, and like boasting about it". Orwell would have a field day analyzing those changes and their implications.
