Shit take.
Centrists will always end up in one way or the other whether they like it or not. There's a reason why we have a political compass in todays dialectics within the political sphere. It's like trying to figure out if you're a theist or atheist, there really isn't an in-between it's either you are one or not, otherwise you're just being lazy and don't really care at all.

Which gods do they believe in?
Some Buddhists believe in an devas, which is just a term for explaining something like the earth, or the sky, or a celestial body within the universe that is in a long cycle of rebirth and death.
They are only described as "gods" because that's how it's translated to English.

They are most definitely atheist, in the sense they don't believe in a literal supernatural being or creator.

Anonymous (ID: Bozkvz3k) United States No.513955193 >>513955811

They believe in devas and other celestial beings. Saying those aren't gods is just postmodern western bullshit.
They don't believe (or don't recognize) a main creator god that runs the show. So they're like Hindus who believe in all the lesser deities but doesn't recognize a supreme being like Vishnu, Shiva, Shakti, etc.

Devas are celestial beings, 90% of Buddhists don't believe in eternal life or an eternal universe, so how can they believe in God's at all? The definition of a God is an eternal supernatural being, that doesn't die.

>>513955324
Yes it is. You ultimately have to choose a side in any situation in life. Why is so different for political means?

>90% of Buddhists don't believe in eternal life or an eternal universe
Is Samsara not eternal?
>The definition of a God is an eternal supernatural being, that doesn't die
No it isn't
Plenty of European pagan gods die
Every Hindu god that is an incarnated being will die (i.e. all of them that exist within Maya), it just might take billions or trillions of years
Anonymous (ID: 1CK3Uzky) Canada No.513956862 >>513957301
>>513956437
They're still eternal beings, those pagen gods don't die they go to a higher level beyond the universe or are incarcerated into something else, the samsara isn't a God, it's a state of life cycles to demonstrate that life can become suffering even after death. But Buddhists believe that even the longest life cycles come to an end eventually.
Anonymous (ID: Bozkvz3k) United States No.513957301 >>513959559
>>513956862
From what I understand Samsara doesn't have a beginning or an end
You personally can escape it but it'll always be here
>But Buddhists believe that even the longest life cycles come to an end eventually.
So do Hindus
Although theoretically you could be reincarnated over and over again if you never achieve Moksha or Nirvana, but I'm pretty sure the assumption is that every being will eventually get to that point
Other than whatever personality they map onto Brahman, which is eternal
Anonymous (ID: 1CK3Uzky) Canada No.513959559 >>513959719
>>513957301
There is always a beginning and an end eventually in Buddhism, their entire world view is based around life is suffering, and you have to find a path to go beyond that type of thinking and not suffer, otherwise you could be stuck in a life cycle of suffering, the samsara is a concept to explain that.
This is why Buddhists who starve themselves or set themselves on fire are seen as making the ultimate sacrifice or paying the ultimate debt.

Okay, but that's you as an individual. Not existence as a whole.
Unless you're saying the whole thing is a metaphor, in which case that is also postmodern garbage.

It's all concepts to follow, that's why it's a religion, it has metaphors, concepts and moral teachings that people religiously follow, but it can still be a religion that's atheistic.

Anonymous (ID: Bozkvz3k) United States No.513963128

Philosophy is part of it but Buddhism isn't a secular materialistic thing that's just pretending to appeal to metaphysical stuff for the sake of metaphor
