Get a payment plan where there is no interest and you pay $20 a month. Eventually you'll pay it off and it wont take up much of your monthly income. As long as youre paying the agreed amount, they cant sue you or anything. Get it all in writing

It will reflect on the credit report and when applying for credit, OP can let the lender know that they are paying on the medical debt. It shows up as medical debt on the report and it is viewed differently than an unpaid auto loan. Its not as "bad" in the eyes of the lender. There are also some charities that pay off people's medical debt that OP could research. I cant recall the name of the one I heard about. Paying your debts is good for the credit score.

1) contact the financial aid office; request a hardship application
2) be honest even if it seems harmful to your claim
3) search for community medical bill relief; contact your local churches for assistance. The Mormons, Salvation Army help non-members. Catholics and protestants might, but their USAID gibs dried up.
4) utilize your local food bank and homeless shelter. They have medical assistance programs most folks don't know about. Plus, the food bank can supplement your budget to steer more funds to bills
5) businesses are hiring citizen white guys again. Discard your pride and start aggressively applying. I tried Sam's Club with no expectations. They took me for double my previous medical position salary. Never know until you try.

Growing up is realizing that over 60 percent of this country doesn’t pay any of their medical bills and the entire system rests on making the 40 percent cover the costs naturally arising from this disparity. It only matters if they decide to take you to court which makes no economic sense for them to do unless the amount is in high five or low six figs to begin with.
