Democrats were until recently the pro-labor party, or at least pretended to be, and being pro labor means opposing ALL immigration because it dilutes the labor market. Even far lefty communist beaners like Cesar Chavez opposed illegal immigration because it fucked over the legal migrants he was trying to organize.

During the obama years the big business bosses figured out that democrats were even easier and cheaper to bribe than republicans so everything switched, now the republicans are pushing for stricter labor laws and the democrats push this libertarian "if he wants to job for below minimum wage and no insurance that's his human right" bullshit position. I was just trying to find these this morning, because I wanted to see how they looked comapred to Biden and Obama's deportations, which were fairly high. We're probably not deporting any more than normal under any president. Trump's just making a show of it to distract his voters from the fact that he's definitely a pedo. Nobody cared about the "Deporter in Chief" (Obama) deporting people at a higher rate than Trump ever has. Nobody told them it was a bad thing so they didn't care about it one way or another. Same with Obama's press releases (available from the WH archives website) bragging about the tariffs and other protectionist trade measures he put in place. It's not even that they thought it was good then but switched and it's bad now.
