Well there were spanish, french, dutch, swedish and russian colonies and they were not USA on the first place. They BECAME USA after. It doesn't change what I said.
The most numerous amerindians were Incas, Mayas and Aztecans. These civilizations were in countries who are currently majority amerindian like Peru, Bolivia, Guatemala, Ecuador and even Mexico, especially the south in Yucatan.
This mean that the savage indians from USA or somewhere else like Brazil or Caribbeans were never an important demographic people because there was no big urban settlements who encouraged massive reproduction and more advanced states.
The thing is shitons of europeans started to move and born in the settlements they have established unlike indians who stayed in their nomadic or rudimentary lifestyle.
Also there were wars and diseases, but those not only affected indians. Shitons of lands was empty not because indians were killed but because they never established themselves there. Especially in places like deserts, mountains or jungles where there is no food.
Reminder that before the spanish came and introduced wild horses, cattles, porks and chickens. There was only wild Turkeys and Buffalos.
