Was super good to be a CS graduate in the 80's-90's
Computers were the future, everyone currently under ~35 grew up with a computer.
Everyone's parents say:
>Wow, our kid is SO good with computers.
>Maybe they should get one of those high paying computer jobs
Then everyone went to school for it, job market oversaturated.
Then Indians said they'd work remote for pennies compared to US citizens and a lot of development got outsourced.
Oversaturated market combines with bleeding jobs to foreigners.

Hospitals is one of the only places still hiring local CS because it's literally illegal to trust third world non-citizens with data systems that have confidential medical records.
