The easiest way for a space faring species to get rid of humans is to push a big space rock into the earth. This may not be that, but if it is it will do a maneuver when it is on the other side pf the sun and we will not know until it appears on the other side, around 25 Oct. Then we will have about six weeks if it is indeed on a collision course at that time. Or it will continue it's current trajectory and never get within thirty million miles of Earth.
I would prefer the former but I am fairly certain it will be the latter. If it is a doom rock, we would be certain it was not an accident, we probably will not be able to do anything about it, and we will never know who was responsible. And that would be the story of man.
