Why have urban areas become Verduns in drone warfare?
The "battle of Pokrovsk" has been going on for 13 months now, 4 months longer than the battle of Verdun.

Germans want to seize high ground giving them vantage point over Paris. Almost take the heights in incredibly bloody fighting. French go ballistic with propaganda, nationalistic songs, banners, commandeer civilian vehicles to rush in reinforcements and launch series of equally bloody counterattacks. German offensive is stopped. Germans cope by saying they didn’t really want the Verdun heights to begin with. One of the bloodiest battles in history. French and Germans basically exhausted themselves there which led to British and Americans playing a prominent role later in the war.

What do you mean? Because if the opposing side can cause that situation on your strongholds they will eventually win so they are pushing to create those situations. wtf you even asking?

They wanted the high ground to gain an artillery advantage over the area so they could stage an offensive towards Paris.

Man I fucking hope not all future wars are this fake and gay. At the very least I hope past a certain point nukes start getting used. That'll fix the drones real quick.
