If we reformulate your question, as "white" being european, then the left right division comes from the monarchic history of Europe. Where people of a partiuclar viewpoint sat to one side of the king, and the other on the opposing side. This calcified into right and left respectively over the centruies. This is akin to other aphoirsm, like "towing the party line", which is an actual line in the British Pariliment, meant not to be crossed for a sense of decorum. Which when crossed, made an unmistakenable singal to ones own, that party affiliation is no longer important.

Now coming to your question, why doesn't left and right apply for other culutres? That is the answer right there, because these other cultures have their own political traditions, India has their caste system, Japan has their imperial court etc. these systems can be reininterrted through a "right" vs. "left" spectrum, but then you would be simplifying their history and their dynamic.

You have to differntiate between origin and appliaction. Just because the light bulb was invented, does not mean it is a good idea to shove on up your ass, and the same applies for ideas and concepts. If your polity is small enough, dividing people into these groups may serve some value. If you increase the size of the polity that usefulness maybe lost.
