When I went to school, there were 6-8 hours of lessons every day, we had to be able to recite a poem from memory once a week, there was also school every second Saturday and it was a requirement for starting school to be able to write your own name, know all the colors, know all the shapes and at least be able to count to 10. Today they don't ask anything of the children. Saturdays are free, no homework on Fridays, never learn anything by heart, learning requirements are hardly ever increased from class 1-4, it's a joke. At least my folks sat me down every day from the time I was crawling and read to me. I remember my dad reading me his Doc Savage novels until I was reading them myself. They also had me doing math puzzles in these little books where the answers were in invisible ink and you solved them by using a marker to reveal the correct numbers in each box.

Its something I've said for years, so if true then its good to see some common sense prevailing at last.
If you put your children in with damaged goods then your kids are fucked. The earlier this happens the worse it is for your kids.
Charter schools get a bad rap, and some are just cult like institutions with poor educational standards. But charter schools can also be back to basics, teaching fundamental skills and knowledge. Like basic literacy, numeracy and critical thinking. They can enact their own standards of discipline so children start learning within a minute of entering the classroom, kicking out first strike any damaged goods that somehow managed to evade the filters.
You dont need much. A class room, a teacher, some desks, chairs, and board. If you teach a child to read they can be taught anything, learn anything. Really its that simple.
The real reason why there is is so much opposition to basic non-religious charter schools is because it would expose the gross incompetent of the state education system. The waste of resources and money by blue haired idiots, the empty words of ever changing curriculum and the ludicrous misapplication of tax payer money.

Well you see, back in the wild west days, we all had guns, and when somebody was a problem, we would form a posse of 20 or so good men with guns and then we would go find the problem people and either shoot them, or arrest them and take them back for a short trial followed by a hanging. You see, that is how the justice system in the USA is supposed to work. So it's a system which breaks down when the government starts to criminalize normal crime-fighting behavior. If we aren't allowed to lynch the problem people, then they multiply and remain a problem for decades.

If the government would just get out of our way and let us purge the criminals we would solve crime within weeks. There would be no drug dealers, fentanyl addicts shitting on the streets, gangs, shoplifters or rioters, because good men with guns would form posse's and we would shoot those troublemakers to death, or arrest them and hang them according to our law.

Another way to look at it is natural selection, if good men with guns were allowed to shoot all the criminals, then the criminal genes would be thinned, and the less criminal members of those societies would then survive and procreate, eventually in 10,000 years we could get black people to have a crime rate as low as civilized white men. But it would take time, and effort, and we would have to drastically change how we deal with criminal blacks.

When we were enrolling our kid into Kindergarten, there was a very basic competency test administered to the kids. Stuff like knowing the alphabet (without using the song as a crutch), identifying numbers up to ten, colors, shapes, being able to spell out their own name, things like that. A significant amount of the kids were failing that test, which was what led us to finally pulling the trigger on a private school. My wife was fortunate enough to go to a good (re: White) public school and had thought that school would be how it was when she was in it, while I suffered through a shitty inner city school, so I knew how fucking awful things could be. Once I had the evidence right in front of me, my wife was able to see that my original plan of private school was the better of the two.

The funny thing is, the school we had originally picked was still 70% White, but now we're having to deal with the lowest common denominator kids being dumb as fuck and potentially holding our kids back. That's not the case at the school they attend now.
