The government already does by proving houses for lower rental costs to people that place themselves on a list if they cannot afford housing.

As long as they do not engage in antisocial behavior, such as throwing parties, doing drugs, or having strange visitors in the house, then they can live there for their entire lives.

The issue we have now is many young people are attempting to get onto these lists and are waiting a long time to get housing, meanwhile their parents are attempting to get them to move out, while private rental properties are highly expensive and not affordable for them to move out.

This is one of the reasons why we hate illegal migrants, because they are taking the houses that the youth need to establish themselves in the workforce as independent citizens.

This is also why we have low birth rates, because the majority of young people are living with parents so cannot date because they have no home of their own.

Land is limited so you can’t pump supply to reduce price.
So if not way is to reduce demand that is stop immigration and encourage deurbanization by promoting online work and such.
In supply area you can tax heavily having more than handful houses and ban corporate ownership of housing, but in longer term land is finite so there is hard limit to how effective it would be.
Another thing is that you can’t lower prices as deflation is death of modern economy. So price must go up. But it can raise at lower rate than wages, thus making housing affordable.

Basically the 1920’s were peak civilization, minus technological advancement. Home ownership was around 50% compared to 65% today. All we’ve done in the last 100 years was ensure that 15% of the population, who are all low class poor people (niggers, spics, and white trash), could get into homes that they own. They still didn’t manage to build generational wealth, and it massively benefited financial institutions at the expense of everyone else.
