>the problem with Vietnam is letting kikes manage your wars instead of actual Americans with a plan
>bombs aren't substitute for winning hearts and minds, putting people in concentration camps only stiffens resistance
it's not even that, there were repeated geopolitical bitch-outs that resulted in the marines being sent to take "hill 342" then pulled back ten miles, then sent to retake "hill 342" then pulled back 25 miles, then instead sent to take "hill 451" then pulled back 5 miles, then told to sit and wait to be engaged, ad infinitum
the actual performance of the US military from the fireteam all the way up to the corps level was very good when you consider the fact that they were facing a threat that knew the lay of the land intimately and were more or less totally indistinguishable from friendlies and civilians who were absolutely under no circumstances to be harmed.
The state of the US military was much worse in Korea where a similar thing happened because MacArthur was getting too close to China and refused to back down, leading to Truman sacking him to avoid pissing off the chinks and risking them entering the war (which they already had; they lost like 160,000 troops lmao)
it depends on the win condition
1000 marines with logistics and resupply could absolutely completely cripple india. the problem is that doing so would require you to not care about civilian casualties, and the US has never taken the gloves off like that with the sole exception of Japan
