How do I bring myself to give a shit about anything in the world? Like I am incapable of caring about anything outside of myself? Everything seems empty and meaningless. And when I find joy in life people try and tear me down.

I don't know. I think this is just a part of being an adult
I went with my mother to the playground today with my nephew to help her out. I seen all the children playing were I once played 20 years ago. They were having the time of their lives. Life was new, it was fresh, everything was bigger to them, and the world was full of wonder. I watched them play hide and seek on a little platform playground frame thing. I wondered how they can even play that game there when there was nowhere to hide. I wondered how they could get so much joy out of running around on it, and how I did when I was their age. I actually forget. The world has been disenchanted to me. I know too much, I have lost my innocence. It just sucks being an adult. The only thing you can find joy in now is the joy in the next generation. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be, I don't know. Maybe I'm just depressed

I just got a $50 parking violation for pulling into a paid lot for 20 minutes while I had a breakdown in my car over several failures in my life. 20 minutes. Last year $50 would have been nothing, currently I’m pinching every penny I can and I’ll never recover from this. Yet another failure.

Well im gonna combine existentialism like camus and nietzsche with the psychology of Carl Jung and Carl Rogers. You are unhappy for good reasons sure im not denying societal issues in modernity, however if you feel empty its probably because you are waiting for meaning, like youll wake up some day and suddenly boom meaning. The thing is though that the only meaning of life is to experience so that theres reason for objective reality to exist. However the existentialists said that instead of waiting one must create its own meaning, for example through family friends projects the obtainment of knowledge but most of all try to pursue goals that bring you closer to self actualisation, that means your goal is to blossom into the most authentic version of yourself, through the obtainment of the goal the skill needed for it is integrated into the whole psychology. You could nihilistically argue with me that that isnt meaningfull and yet pursueing a goal integeating it into the psyche is the great work it is the meaning youre biologically wired to want it (see maslow pyramid) suffering will always occur either real suffering or false suffering by creating meaning the suffering becomes worth it without it all hope is lost you must keep going on your heroes journey towards your goals there you will find purpose meaning and likeminded people
