I’ve always found it interesting that this was the initial assumption considering the WTC was bombed just eight years earlier. I'm a millennial or gen x depending upon who you ask and I watched it live down here.
I think it was like midnight or something and a mate told me on ICQ to turn on the TV saying America was under attack. I didn't believe him, but then I saw all the big US news sites were down so went and turned on the TV to see every channel was showing a live feed from the US. Shortly afterwards the first tower started collapsing and I clearly remember dropping to my knees with my mouth open and the remote falling out of my hand.
The next day I went to university and there was a really weird/sombre mood all around the place. It wasn't as busy as normal and everyone seemed to be walking around with vacant stares.

Yeah I did, I lived in a village in Siberia back then and they even interrupted the air of the federal channel and just plugged in some CNN or some such shit ( though it was at night so not much got interrupted). Keep in mind we were going off the news media portrayal- it didn't seem like that big a deal even though there was a plane sticking out of one of the towers. Fire wasn't bad and it was near the top so not a lot of concern about getting people out. When the second plane came in lower with deliberate intent the mood shifted.

We'll probably never know who was informed and who was genuinely reacting that day, but I can't think the news media wasn't at least told to be on their toes that day.

And you would have been right to do that, but the previous bombing results were subpar, and the actual tower damage was performed via demolition so there should have been no expectation that it was going to be as bad as it was. Buildings like that are designed to absorb impacts like that and to be resistant to structural damage via fire so it wound up being a kind of hollywood action scene that most people bought into. I saw enough irregularities even as I was watching it to be suspicious, and I was not even a conspiracy reader at the time.

Shutting down all air traffic in North America was insane. ALL OF IT as fast as fucking possible. Anything that was in the sky was a potential threat and if it acted out of order, they'd all get shot down and killed. Planes running low on fuel, fuck, all of Canada's airports had to take planes from all over the USA plus their own and park them on their tarmacs. It was a gong show. Incredibly no more than the 4 planes crashed.

No one really knew the immense gravity of that day and how it was going to shape the rest of the entire planet forever. It's the main reason why all sandniggers are hated to this day. No one cared about them at all beforehand. They stayed in their containment countries. Until they attacked.

I watched it happen live, on the classroom TV in school. I remember a staff member interrupting class and telling the teacher to turn it on (it was just after the first plane hit). Classes effectively stopped for the day, especially after what happened next: We all saw the second plane hit, live. It's rarely discussed but nobody knew at the time that it was an attack (we thought maybe it was an accident), nobody expected there to be a second plane, so when it happened out of nowhere, it was shocking. It just appeared from out of frame and boom, hit the tower. Like a real life jump scare.

And then we watched the buildings collapse, live. That was one hell of a day, very scary at the time. I hadn't heard of anything political other than the Clinton blue dress scandal prior to that. I watched it live. I was in senior seminar class and the teacher was a real one and let us skip class and go find a TV to watch it on. The headmaster of the school was kind of a prick and tried to ban us from watching TV but in the back room in the library one of the librarians set up an A/V unit and it was me and a few other kids and probably a dozen teachers all crammed into a storage closet watching the towers fall. I was too late to see any planes hit but I did see the towers fall.

I also remember watching an interview with Dick Cheney where he said he had scrambled fighter jets to escort the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania. About half an hour later the plane came down in PA and I knew it had been shot down but I can’t find the video of Cheney talking about how he ordered the escort anywhere. Then they came out with a movie about it and it was obviously a coverup for the government shooting down an airliner, even if everyone agrees it was the right thing to do (the lawsuits would obviously lead to eye watering settlements for hundreds of families)

My dad was in the breakroom at his job when the 2nd plane hit live on TV. He always says how weird of a feeling it was after the 2nd one hit and everyone realized it was intentional. Everyone thought the first one was accidental at first.
