Big Tech has cut over 100,000 jobs this year
based

Since the start of the year, Big Tech has shed over 100,000 jobs. Sure, some of these layoffs are just standard corporate belt tightening, but it is now clear that AI is impacting the job market β€” and entry- and mid-level workers are being hit the hardest.

This underscores a defining question of our time: Will AI lead to widespread unemployment, or will it create new opportunities and industries that we can’t yet imagine? So far, AI is displacing jobs faster than new ones are being created.

Curious that AI job cuts only affect HR drones and diversity specialists huh

It's all fun and games until companies realize that vibe coding is not a substitute for a real (non-Jeet) programmer.

And highly paid stacies filming their "day in the life of" videos doing nothing all day but eating and chitchat. You can lay off EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE CUNTS and absolutely nothing will change in your company.

The thing is that the past decade many companies just hired people for growth. Many retarded bootcamp Devs. Any team that's building something real might use AI, but only for complex Google searches. Any time I try it gets things wrong.

The problem is not hiring extras around is what's killing the software industry. Everyone wants and only wants senior programmers. You *have* to have juniors around to ensure there's going to be more future seniors.

I work in tech and I'm that type of a person that loved computers and technology since the 90s, playing Starcraft and CS in gaming caffes after school in early 2000s and now the situation is so bad I can barely stand it. Stacies have infiltrated every highly paid industry and they decide if you get hired or not, if you advance in your career or not, if you get promoted or not, if you get a raise or not etc. Women in tech have a lot higher salaries than men now and they do the least amount of work by far. And the entire industry is just rotting endlessly. Absolute shitshow.

Just today I had to find out a series of terminal commands for 3 different things. It would have taken an hour to Google it all but Gemini just gave me the right commands (about 25 in total) perfectly on the first try. It's good for that.

Perhaps, I generally don't struggle with those. I typically have problems finding azure specific things, because their docs are ass.
Google typically answers what I need if I do. Anyways, it's good for searching in some scenarios, it's shit at writing code.

Perhaps, hopefully that changes, I feel for the juniors, I myself have 15 years or more experience.

how funny is this going to be when AI fails for the scam it is, all wrapper companies fold, we are left with government owned tech companies that turn the tech into 100% cyber warfare tools, then a massive electromagentism event fries everything anyway and billions die before AGI even had the chance to skynet us.

In all seriousness though, this shit is going to fail and knock out the house of cards. The remaining skeleton crews will be made up of only competent humans working the jobs of many, not unlike how tech was in the 90's & 2000's, only the pay grade will remain fucked. This is just a culling, not a replacement. We won't see serious job replacements for another decade, for now it is only hr roasties, call centers, and data entry/analysis work.

AI is not Actually Indians. They are culling all the over-hiring of useless tech illiterates done between 2016-2022.
Only AI jeet cloud companies are hiring more jeets right now.
