On a charge of historical abuse, was the man an imminent threat to anyone, was he an active shooter, was there a tactical need to send ten cops to kick his door down?

Now I'm not suggesting that police should simply ignore criminals who are likely to give them trouble, the question pertains to motive.

And just like the trains I'd ask, what were the responding officers told about the man. Not what they knew or didn't know, what were they told. Dezi Freeman was not your ordinary guy, he'd tried to arrest a magistrate for show and the police had been after him years, he was known to be armed, so what did command tell these police? Because in the train raid, it seems like the local police were told little at all and were effectively set up.

The police on the ground, well they were probably local police who saw this as a high risk arrest. I think that would be a fair assessment, fair to police.

So what I see from an analytical point of view is that police command
A. Was fully aware of the situation. They knew the man, knew he was armed, knew how he was likely to respond.
B. Had police resources, there's more than 500 cops up there as we speak, but initially ten donut cops were sent to carry out a high risk search and arrest
C. There was no tactical imperative to raid the property at all. There were ten other ways the suspect might have been taken into custody.
D. That senior police command is in direct dialogue with the labour party and the premier, whereas local cops are generally not.

So my take away here is that
A. The situation was entirely avoidable
B. The donut police on the ground however couldn't avoid it
C. Senior police are setting up local police, to create a tactical situation where officers are obliged to murder a political dissident.
