this is true. residencies were capped and keeps the field from getting flooded and devaluing our worth

im unfortunately not wealthy or rich. my parents debtmaxxed, so 17 year old me had to sign off on loans with 12% interest rates for undergrad. All the while my guidance counselors said don't sweat it you'll be able to pay it off. Became financially literate a few years later and realized that my only way out of this was to get a job with a high income.

It's a mixed bag. Some of my colleagues are foreign born and wayyy more talented or intelligent than me. It's very hard for foreigners to get into an American residency. The ones who do make it through American residency programs tend to be the best of the best from their respective countries. On the other hand, if you start allowing alternate pathways (like in OP's pic) where their talents don't get vetted first, then that's a huge red flag. But here's the thing, this shit is already happening because of DEI initiatives. they're matriculating crappy med students who are black and hispanic to try and hit race quotas. Thankfully, a lot of these people wash out in residency or medical school. But man, I could immediately tell which of my classmates were dei quota.
