I've gone to the US (Vermont) to get same day health care. Universal means jeet infested with 6 month waiting lists to see a doctor, literally half of the triage nurse offices at the nearest hospital are reserved for immigrants and refugees.

Not only is the US against universal healthcare, they are also against free market healthcare.

The American Medical association, the countries most powerful union, makes sure that the number of doctors in this country is restricted by the residency program to ensure that prices don't go down.

To become a doctor, you have to do a residency. the number of residency spots today is about the same as we had in the 70s. Medical schools are only guaranteed so many residency spots for their graduates so they have to turn away qualified candidates. As always, constrain the supply and prices will soar
