Everyone's brain works differently. You can do imaging of ten thousand different people's brain and then look for patterns that coincide with behavioural traits. That doesn't mean that you have discovered a disease or disorder.
All mental disorders are classified around behavioural traits that impact function. Severe mental illness like schizophrenia impairs function so much that many sufferers become homeless living on the street.
But for many mental disorders the function that they impair is just optimal performance in the 21st Century Western context. Saying someone has a mental disorder because they don't like to sit in a classroom or office, or they are disorganised in performing domestic tasks, is fucking retard, and giving them amphetamines so that they can perform these tasks is even more retarded.
People need to just be more comfortable with the reality that the scope of human traits is such that there will always be people who are at a disadvantage in every context. Some people aren't built to perform optimally in 21st Century Western society, but some people who are would struggle in other contexts of times past.
Using psychoactive drugs to try and squeeze everyone's behavioural traits into a more narrow band is dangerous. Imagine if the Catholic Church had done this in the middle ages, or the English had done it in the Georgian period. The retardation of this idea becomes obvious when looking from the outside.

That is why more and more people are seeking an adult diagnosis despite above average performance in school and university. feel free to cite your sources, anon. because in australia the current rate of ADHD prescription is 2 per 100, but only 80% of that is psychostimulant medication so the rate for psychostimulants (not even amphetamines, just any kind of stimulant) is even lower at 1.6. furthermore, even if you did establish that the rates were higher or that these rates were a problem, you would then have to identify what the problem IS.
