>causal mind
In Theosophy, the term "causal mind" refers to the higher aspect of the human mind, specifically the Causal Body, which is the vehicle of abstract, higher thought and the seat of the true, reincarnating Self or Ego. This concept is distinct from the lower, concrete mind, which is associated with everyday, practical thinking and is linked to the Mental Body. The Causal Body is formed by the union of the higher Manas (the higher mind) with Buddhi (the spiritual soul), a principle described by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky as the "Buddhi-Manas" which constitutes the Causal Body and is the conscious entity that connects the Ego to every personality it inhabits on Earth. This higher principle is considered the immortal entity that passes from one incarnation to another.
The Causal Body is also known as the Higher Mental, Abstract Mind, or the "Higher Ego" when connected with the Buddhic radiance.
It is the highest subtle body, existing beyond the Mental Body, and is associated with the Causal Plane, a high spiritual plane of existence. According to the Neo-Theosophical teachings of Annie Besant and C. W. Leadbeater, the Causal Body is the permanent vehicle of the Ego, lasting from life to life, while the lower Mental Body, associated with the Lower Manas, disintegrates after death and is consumed during the Devachan state. The Causal Body serves as a receptacle and treasure house for all that has been assimilated from a life, containing the latent forces and germs of the passional life drawn from the lower bodies. It is considered the cause or seed (karana) of both the subtle and gross bodies, originating from the ignorance (avidya) of the true Self (Atman).
