How bad is Santander? They recently bought TSB and I'm worried about the inevitable transfer into their system early next year.

Not good from an it perspective. I used to work there. Because their UK operations are a conglomerate of the building societies they bought, their systems are also stiched together legacies

Avoid it. Stringent AML and KYC checks that's of course passed down onto the average pleb with sub £5k deposits and outgoings a month getting their accounts frozen with personal information checks and requests that would make the Mi5 blush.
Lloyds seems to be the most usable from the highstreet banks.

It's always jeets. I worked at two major banks and any serious amount of downtime (in hours) was always because some of jeets. It's bad enough they outsource development to jeets via big four firms but even the operations/support people are filled with useless jeets as well. So the downtime is often longer because jeets play a game of hot potato and duck out of doing anything (because they often don't even know where to start and also they'd rather someone else take the blame if they screw up in the process of fixing it).
