Its a matter of survival. People are, for the most part, normalized to and roughly accepting of gay and lesbian people. You still have homophobia, but the gays have largely won their fights for recognition and right to exist.
Trannies have not only not made the same progress, but they are drawing an incredible amount of heat and are losing their side of the culture war. So long as the conversation hinges on trannies, nothing else can get done because the GOP will take any excuse to shift the conversation back to being about trannies, because thats a fight they can win.
And, put simply, there are not ENOUGH trannies in the US for this to be at all worth the time, effort, and number of failed elections we have already lose on this hill. Its time to cede the ground, move on, and pick the fights the we CAN win. Maybe, if the wind changes, we can come back and gives trannies another shot when things are different. You don't have gay people trying to convince other people that they are gay, and at worst they might convince you to experiment and try something you might not be comfortable with, but then you find out thats not for you and aside from one awkward night thats probably the end of it.
Trannies had a serious pattern of trying to convince other people to undergo transitions themselves, promising that years from now and thousands of dollars later, after this irreversible change you will finally be happy. Which is morally questionable at best, because you don't actually know thats true. A lot of people are going to get baited in by that promise when what they really needed was other counseling or treatment, and by the time they find out that this isn't the solution for them serious harm has already been done.

I'm not saying that no people benefit from a gender transition, but trannies are very quick to offer it as a solution and thats reckless, irresponsible, and makes them a target in a way that the LGB sides don't ever have to deal with because they do not seek converts.

LGB is pretty straightforward to understand. Most people can understand being attracted to someone else, they can understand having preferences and they can wrap their head around the idea of minor personal or biological changes not necessarily being a mental illness that needs to be wiped out.
