Factually not true, it's literal cancer cells. they are not supposed to be not-foreign. Cancer cells are mutated cells, that the immune system will try to destroy BUT the cancer cells hide by acidifying the area.
So when the person is weak or is wounded in that cancer zone, the body first response is to heal and send nutrients to the cancer cells, the immune system fights back but it's usually too little too late and the whole thing metastasize
That's why people who get their cancerous tumor extirpated have a high mortality rate if they left a single cancer cells behind
