Yes, you can apply if you have a job. Most employers will cancel the PERM process, and they have a mandatory 6-month cooling-off period.

This means that most H1B visa holders have a maximum of 4 attempts for a PERM process.

That's not what I'm saying.

Here's one problem with this otherwise excellent effort. I mean, stymying the companies who want to bring in foreigners is a good thing on it's own.

But would you want to work for a company who was so dead set on hiring foreigners because they're cheaper than citizens? Would you expect a good work experience in a place like that? I mean, they fucking deliberately hide job postings in order to minimally comply with law, so they have demonstrated a willingness to screw over the American citizen job-seeker, nickel and diming the domestic workforce to death. Why would you want to work for a company who would do that? It would be like marrying the girl you were having an affair with.

You must be new here, I am a fixture of the JJG thread.

I am a fiancé visa applicant from Montreal, Canada, and my fiancé is from Wisconsin (Ozaukee County).

On April 1, 2025, USCIS took adjudicators who were working on fiancé visas to put them on H1B premium processing. This is because employment-based visa applicants have the option to pay for a premium processing fee of $2,805, but fiancé or spousal visa applicants do not.

My visa was delayed by 3 months, which for me is catastrophic. I went from planning a cute, Fall, Hallmark-esque wedding to being forced to get married in peak winter in Wisconsin. This journey into the PERM world started off as a bridezilla tantrum.

The goal in applying for these jobs is not necessarily to get it, because 90% of companies will ghost you, stop the PERM process, and go through the mandatory 6 months cooling off period. The goal is to prevent a temporary work visa holder from getting a green card, forcing them to self-deport or be deported by ICE.

The local newspaper. I am in Ozaukee County, WI and can find PERM jobs in the Ozaukee Press, the Milwaukee Business Journal, and the Milwaukee Sentinel.

This is the impact of calling your congressman or senator and complaining. This is what a bunch of K1 visa petitioners did.

My transfer to the State Department from USCIS was supposed to be in mid-October. It is now going to be in early September.

It could be anywhere, but is usually a small local newspaper on Sunday or a small website.

You could also contact HR and ask them where they post PERM ads. Use a fake name and email.

For the story, my fiancé decided to sponsor me after seeing the movie Reagan on Labor Day weekend in Montreal. I was sexually harassed and followed for 10 minutes by a group of men. He witnessed and was present for the entire incident.

Every time he sees them, he gets on high alert.

The problem is that US citizens are being excluded from high paying jobs because of Indian nepotism. Once an Indian gets into a hiring position, they fire all the Americans and hire only other Indian. This is widespread and highly illegal.

Several jeets in my areas nest (north Austin) have jobs for under $500 listed salary. A few share 2 to a home. A few work for a Mumbai-based company.

The law is ambiguous here. What is reportable - I want to make it as good as possible.

My big tech company hires remote workers from all over the world. We're currently undergoing a jeet purge process as we get rid of jeet teams and hire US or European workers.

Working with people from a western culture is heaven. They don't play power games, lie, hide errors, or purposely harm the projects like jeets do.

Your application won't kill a PERM filing unless it says it's from a US citizen. They never check though.

Wait until we start to Karen the US Consulate in Montreal.

I have all of my documents in a zipped folder that I can grab and take the first taxi I can get to the US consulate.

All what I need right now:

- A case number from the NVC starting with MTL
- A medical examination. I called the Telus Sante clinic in Montreal and they can get me in for the next day, and send the results electronically to the consulate in 5 business days. I have had all necessary vaccinations, including the flu shot for the 2025-2026 season in a Walgreens in Wisconsin.
- An interview slot

Montreal is 68.74% third-country national applicants, which means that they need a civil document from another country to be able to interview. Many of these applicants lie to the US government saying that they have all of the necessary documents but don't, and then cancel their interview slot at the last minute.

I live locally (less than 20 miles), and am available at any time to take a cancellation slot. The US consulate in Montreal does not offer that.

Moreover, the flu shot will become mandatory on October 1. The going rate to get it before November 15 is a trip to the US or 500 CAD in cash, because the Canadian government is that incompetent. There are a ton of cancellations in October and November because applicants cannot get a flu shot.

Just give me a cancellation slot, and put my file in 221G for 1-2 weeks to allow me to do my medical exam.
