The New Testament is markedly different from the Old Testament. The Old Testament is written in Hebrew by Jews while the New Testament is written in Koine Greek, and adopted Greek Philosophy; wherein 3 Gospels, by Matthew, Mark, and John, were Jewish authors, whereas Luke, was a Greek Doctor, furthermore, the Apostlic Epistles were the Apostles sending letters to a bunch of audiences from Syria, to Greece, to Rome.

That's why the New Testament is so intellectual and cerebral compared to the Old Testament, it's because it was influenced by Greek culture and Philosophy and was written in the peak of the Roman Empire when Rome ruled Israel.

Also, chances are, the John who wrote the Gospel according to John is the same John as the writer of the Book of Revelation since John being of Priestly lineage vividly desribed images of the Heavenly New Jerusalem in Revelation markedly vividly and with good comparison to the exact details to the altars and sacrificial offerings in the inner sanctum of Temple of Jerusalem where commoners were banned from entry and only those of Priestly lineage are allowed to see.
