They're militarily irrelevant, but they were already de facto part of NATO anyway, so them formally joining doesn't really matter. They already operated compatible equipment and hosted NATO exercises. Ukraine was on that path too, they were hosting NATO exercises and were increasing compatibility between their systems and NATOs, so Russia attacked before it got to that point. Finland and Sweden aren't the same sort of security threat Ukraine would be, Ukraine is Russia's soft underbelly, while attacking through Finland or Sweden would be a logistical nightmare.

The Baltics aren't good defensive terrain and the couple of brigades they have there are nowhere near enough to stop the Russians. If war seemed to be on the horizon NATO countries would make a big deal of supporting the baltics in the media, but they would have their troops stay in their bases and coordinate behind the scenes with Russia to try and avoid having their troops be killed. Even if troops from NATO militaries were killed, that wouldn't be all that likely to escalate to full scale war, there are personnel from NATO countries in Ukraine who get killed all the time and the NATO isn't going to war over it.

Probably. NATO has demonstrated that it's actually pretty impotent and internally divided, and something like that would be the final nail on the coffin.
