>tied to the land you cannot leave
They often had their own property and land that they were issues on the landlords' premises, many of which were very big spacious territories.
>can be bought and sold
No, retard. Serfs in Russia were working in a system that was essentially similar to contracting, nowadays. No one sold anyone, people came to landlords to work under them either out of their own free will, or if they were children that were born to serfs who worked in landlords' territories at the time.
>can be ordered around what to do
They came to work there, imbecile. Obviously they had certain amount of duties assigned to them, akin to butlers and maidens.
>your children are serfs as well and you can only be freed if your lord frees you
Wrong and misleading lies. Serfs could factually "buy out" themselves by accumulating certain sum, and since they were officially issued wages for their work, this wasn't an issue at all.
>have to work for free for your landlord and landlord solves all disputes between serfs (no court, no laws, just word of the lord)
This is straight up arrogant BULLSHIT and a completely pulled-out-of-ass LIE
In factual reality, Russian serfdom system was VERY strictly regulated at an official governmental level, where serfs had A LOT of freedoms and it was the landlord who was getting punished for any mistreatment of serfs on their territories. More than so, Russian serfs were issued free clothing and tools, free food, FREE medical care with regular check ups, including provision of medicines for adult and children alike.
