That isn't what Jesus said. You are paraphrasing it wrong. It's very common to paraphrase that verse wrong.
The Greek word in the text means "to take" the sword which has a broader meaning than "to draw" the sword. Jesus could have said those who draw the sword will die by it (there was a Greek word that meant "draw a weapon" at the time and the authors could have used it) but he and the authors didn't say/write that. Jesus was condemning violence being adopted as a policy, not violence being used as a means to a noble end such as self defense.

Here's all the literal translations. You can see that none of them say "live by" the sword.
