For a national liberal, this reaction to the flags showcases a very nasty feature of certain people in society. What nationalism did was turn people from subjects into citizens of the nation state. A flag is the symbol of the nation's people and the citizens of the state. To make this taboo is deeply worrying. This is a stark reversal of the trend.
