Is everyone else wrong?
Or is China wrong?

It's weird people care about this when every single Chinatown on Earth is a de facto colony. These are sand bars in the ocean for retard who eat fish, they don't impact the lives of normal people. Normal people would be happy if all Chinese people live on sandbar and leave the major city alone.

China is because the sheer amount of ocean they attempt to claim goes beyond what is recognized in treaties they agreed to on how much coastal water a nation can claim.
even if they owned all those islands it would not give them legal claim to the entire south china sea, showing that its just a power grab farce.

that said power is power, if no one can stop them from ruling it, then no one can stop them and words on paper wont change that.
they, however, so far have no been able to finagle their power into real, total control, so even with that argument their claim still falls short, r which it it the most important claim one could argue.

it is funny how their need to assert dominance over sea claims has turned basically the entire region against them, brought them all closer together, and caused them a potential headache of an anti-china coalition that seems to be forming.

they're all wrong. basically every single one of these countries has just as ridiculous and delusional claims over these waters as China does, they just leverage China's stronger position to make themselves seem like victims.

WW3 is going to be fought over fishing rights.
The entirety of south east asia is going to get into the bloodiest of escalations over fishing in the next dozen years as the usual harvest grounds are collapsing rapidly from over fishing.

worse part is sustainable fishing is entirely possible.
but (mostly but not only china) those bastards literally fish down to to having their nets drag the ocean floor to scoop up every last clam they can in the name of greed.
doesn't matter if its more than the market needs, maybe you can under sell someone else and have THEIR excess rot and be dumped instead of yours!

Shouldn't have let them name that sea the South China Sea. Just like how Trump renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America is just step one

It is an imaginary dick. Unlike America, which has a physical land-dick (Florida).

yea people don't realize what commercial fishing has turned into with those super tankers
its like clear cutting a forest, they take everything these days
giant nets that take everything top to bottom, including scraping the floor like you said
there's no real regulation and the technology happened quickly in the last 20-30 years converting those super oil tankers into these fishing motherships

China claim is ridiculous. With that said Taiwan has the same claims which makes theirs even more ridiculous. I say this as someone who thinks even Vietnams claims are ridiculous. The only one without a retarded claims is the Philippines but they are an extreme incompetent corrupt poor shithole so what they say doesn't matter.

worse too is the illegal chinese fishing fleets that literally pass into controlled and/or protected waters to fish, or literally circle protected islands to catch everything that leaves the 'safe' zone slowly killing them anyways.

>>514180166
it is kinda funny that basically all of chinas cost is blocked in from the greater ocean to some degree.

whys that matter? China agreed to it, go be pissed off at them for not sticking to something they agreed to, instead of someone who supports the anti china agenda despite having not signed it.
