here's your windows 11 privacy
Microsoft starts to automatically save .DOCX documents you are writing, every 5 seconds, to Microsoft Cloud (tm)

To use Word 365, you must use Microsoft account on internet. When using Microsoft account you are automatically assigned a Microsoft Cloud.

They will constantly upload a .DOCX file you are about to write into the cloud. Even when its not ready but just a sketch.

"Anything new you create will be saved automatically to OneDrive (cloud) or your preferred another cloud destination, it supports others than OneDrive as well", writes Raul Munitionz, product manager at Microsoft on the Office Shared Services and Experiences team.

He backs up the decision with half a dozen advantages for saving documents to the cloud.

>From never losing progress and access anywhere to easy collaboration and increased security and compliance.

While cloud saving is without doubt beneficial in some cases, he fails to address the elephant in the room. Some users may not want that their documents are stored in the cloud.

>There are good reasons for that, including privacy. Not all privacy is criminal.

Summed up:
- If you do not mind that Word documents are stored in the cloud, you do not need to become active.
- If you mind that Word documents are stored in the cloud by default, you need to modify the default setting. Everytime you update Widnows the settings get reset to default so you must be alert and change them back once an update has rolled out.

What if you write sensitive materials that can't leave the company or wherever you're working? Wouldn't this disincentivize you from using Microsoft Office?

Like what if you were JK Rowling writing book 7 of Harry Potter, would you want that text getting uploaded to the cloud where someone on the backend could look at it or it could get hacked or any number of things?

Why does Microsoft insist on making their products worse?

Here's my latest Windows complaint. I'll be working constantly on a complicated project. I have dozens of programs running including several browsers with dozens of tabs open. I go to hibernate mode so I don't lose anything and can pick up where I left off in the morning. Then Windows update closes everything out and restarts my computer in the middle of the night. When I boot up, it does not resume from hibernation, it's like a cold boot. Microsoft says this is by design.

Funny that they'll outright ban your account for storing anything in the cloud that "breaks their terms and conditions", too.
So you could be writing your own private stuff that's perfectly fine and legal to have on YOUR machine, but not their cloud.

Any way to turn that shit off? Though I bet it will just auto-enable itself every update.

The problem is Windows 11 + Office365 + retards relying on cloud and online content.
You can still get by perfectly well with Windows 10 LTSC + whatever last Office that worked offline, or a LIBRE version, unless you are a retard wanting to run overpriced latest gen vidyaslop on your overpriced latest gen techslop.
Long term the only way to go is Linux/Libre though, Windows and the rest of the MS slop is only going to get more and more intrusive.

Hey man, Ive just started looking into this stuff and Mint seems like the easiest option for a rookie like me. I can uae alternate programs for everything, I already do anyways. Though IDK if Linux supports Obsidian and Scrivener, which I use for writing, but I can adjust to those too. The only thing that really holds me back are muh video games. Is it possible for me to keep Windows 10 as a possible boot option, solely for the sake of Steam and nothing else? Im not going to hold my breath and wait for all my favorite games to hopefully be available on Linux.

Office 2007 black edition has everything you need and need no logging on microsoft account, it is easy to disable onedrive, you can download a toolkit via powershell that disables bloatware, copilot, cortana, indexing, telemetry, sets up security updates or none at all, removes microsoft store and other processes that you do not need. You can also disable tasks in taskscheduler and services in services.msc, additionally you can also download a script disabling ms security along with defender. You can also download a modified installer for windows 10/11 that automatically removes bloatware and other data sending bullshit without any issues or you can also use Enterprise version with a bare minimum of extra software being installed (keep in mind that you still have to disable all those things mentioned above and a few others I cannot bring up at the top of my head).
Everyone can do this, if you cannot set something as simple as this up without following a few simple guides, you are a complete moron and should stay on phones or switch to Linux Mint and shut the fuck up.

It doesn't stay on your pc, because it is a script you only run once you tweak shit up, then you are rid of it. Hence why I said it can be ran on powershell because even if it was a physical file, you wouldn't have to install it. It can only be ran to open the program, kinda like ShutUp10 but with more options. Don't talk about things you do not know, it only makes you sound retarded.

There is a site called windows7forums I believe where it's threads explain the steps to install an update for w7 getting security further security updates and also drivers for B550/B450/X570..etc. motherboards and there are still older nvidia versions that support cards up to 3000 series, because newer ones are usually stability and ray tracing with dlss for recently released gpus. The only issue is Discord if you'd want to use it, but I read about some compatibility software called Wkex, otherwise you could probably still use the app on your browser. There are some dx12 supports too, but dx11 is still being used in modern games for the time being so it shouldn't be that important.
