>yeah but serious talk atheism isn't a religion
>it's nothing. it's NOT believing in something
Not believing in gods s not the same thing as not being religious
The number of Gods in your religion has no bearing on how religious you are.
Hinduism has an infinite number of Gods.
It is a Polytheistic religion.
Christianity only has a single God.
It is a Monotheistic religion .
Is a Monotheistic religion like Christianity infinitely less religious than a Polytheistic one like Hinduism?
Obviously not, the idea is ridiculous. So why would atheists inherently be less religious than Christians simply because they recognize one less God? Clearly there is no correlation between how many gods you recognize and how religious you are.
Religion isn't belief in a God, it's a system of beliefs, and there most certainly is a system of beliefs associated with big A Atheism.
If you are a bA Atheist you are almost certainly;
>A materialist
>A rationalist
>A secular humanist
>A substantial number of you are sympathetic to Marxism
>but I'm not X !
Irrelevant. All religions have heretics. There are Christians that reject the divinity of Christ that doesn't make Christianity less of a religion. The point is broadly speaking there is a consistent world view that binds your actions, that you will defend vigorously, and will not part from without much "soul searching". Saying that it isn't a religion is hair splitting motivated by your intolerance for other religions.
To you religion is synonymous with falsehood and since atheism is the truth and the way, it therefore cannot be a religion. It's a very religious way of thinking. If truly all atheism was, was a lack of belief, you would at least be open to the idea that you were practicing some form of religion since you supposedly lack any preexisting beliefs on the matter.
