For example, a thing Marxists do, is give just enough gibs to people so they are $1 above poverty line. So they're statistically not poor, but eternally dependant on the system and still struggling.

GDP is also flawed. If government over-spends, skyrocketing GDP temporarily but creating huge unsustainable debt.

In the case of Milei, poverty went way down because the previous corrupt system was stealing the gibs from the poor, acting as middle men. Taking cuts and forcing the poor to act as activists for food. By removing middle men the poor now get 100% of their gibs. Thus there was an immediate effect on poverty levels.
