yeah but at what cost ? Like, once you realize that 'having fun' is not a pre-requisite to completing tasks you begin to understand the concept of duty and commitment. Also another I've noticed is that people tend to try and process too much at once. Obviously I cannot make assumptions about your lifestyle, but usually if you break things down into subtasks, life becomes more digestible. I'm not in the mood to make music today and I'm sure not as hell in the mood to put on my 25lbs pack and combat stroke for 30 minutes and then sprint another 30 in freezing waters with a bunch of ethnic fucks that haven't showered in 3 weeks. But I'm not thinking about that all I'm thinking about is, ok I gotta get my back ready, then ok I gotta get dressed, then ok I gotta do x y z before you know it you're in the water wondering how you got there. Same thing with my studio I'm in a 3 1/2 every time I gotta drag out my piano, my DAW controller, my akai fire, wire everything nicely, set it up.... Make your hobbies into rituals. It's about the ritual. Men need rituals. That's why hobbies. It's not about the hobby, it's how you prepare yourself to engage in that hobby. Like hunting, it's not about bagging the meat, it's about preparing your rifles, cleaning, getting your ammo, your tent and equipment, going out to nature etc. If all you're looking at is the end result or the work itself, of course it's unpleasant. FYI you're not alone, I used to smoke 1oz every 4-5 days. I understand addiction believe me. Now it's 3 cigarettes a day, 3 coffees, 2 js (1 oz like every month and a half or so). I would've never of imagined being able to sustain this. I changed the rules on what controls me, hence I now have changed the rules on what I control..
It's all in your head man. So at the end of the day, you can actually choose to decide how you feel about things.
