I'm using my real identity to apply for jobs. Why would I be afraid of applying to a job listing as an American citizen? Maybe I'll get a better job out of it than the current one I have.

They can here, but you usually have to show proof of employment at a Japanese company, must have been employed for 3-6 months already, and sometimes they require a japanese co-signer. This is also common on lease agreements for housing. I had to have a co-signer on my apartment lease ($1500/month, earning $130k/year).
I'll use Japan as an example, because they still have rules on the books that mostly make sense. Foreigners are not allowed to:

Mortgages aren't as bad because they are collateralized. When they leave the house stays here. I don't really care so much about banks lending to these people as long as they have the legal right to take that risk into account. Yes, and here's why:
These companies are legally obligated to post the jobs publicly. It depends on job type, but generally this means
>Mandatory ads:

>1 State Workforce Agency (SWA) job order for at least 30 days.
>3 additional recruitment steps (from a DOL-approved list, e.g., job boards, campus recruiting, radio, etc.).
So the companies that ONLY post in the local newspaper and on a SWA job order (that no one looks at because it's garbage) but don't post it on their website or a job board people actually use (indeed, linkedin, etc.) are clearly gaming the system and are doing as little as possible to advertise the job posting, hence you can safely assume they intend to hire a jeet slave.
Additionally, you don't need to actually pass an interview or accept an offer or anything to derail the PERM (otherwise they'd just reject all non-slaves as "too demanding"). So you can write the shittiest resume that shows you are qualified, know they won't hire you, and still report them immediately because the likelihood they actually gave these jobs designed for H1bs to an American is about 1%.

The other reply looks right to me, but also during this extension period they can receive a NTA (Notice to Appear). That means INS is initiating deportation proceedings in court. They're pretty much cooked once that occurs, and it's occuring much more under this administration. So they're all worried about NTA now, unless they're under a visa status like H1B. You can also report to DOL for H1B fraud. There's so many types of fraud, and the government has honestly been encouraging it for so long, that it doesn't seem to be as simple as it should. For example, the "hiring a guy in bumfuck nowhere and then assigning him to a customer in NYC so your customer can pay less and you can defraud the h1b program" type seems like it could also be reported to the DOL.
