This story may sound fake but it’s true and I have paperwork which can confirm it
A few years ago, I worked at a USCIS asylum office and one of the officers on my floor was an Indian woman, from India, w/ naturalized US citizen
She repeatedly complained to the administration that Indians, particularly Sikhs from the Punjab region, were submitting boiler plate claims, commuting wide scale fraud, and were even openly discussing their fraud with the interpreter (officers use a 3rd party translation service to communicate w/ detained applicants)
After this indian-American officer raised her concerns about the widespread fraud, which she could also confirm due to her fluency in Hindi/Punjabi, she was immediately moved off of all Indian cases and then was fired about a month later without clear cause (during probation they can get rid of you at whim)
It was widely known that any officer who raised these kinds of concerns within our particular office would have a difficult time. The other officer who tried to seriously fight fraud was a Muslim officer - and he has to work twice as hard as all of the white liberal women who are just stamping ‘positive’ on 95% of cases.
The situation at our office really is what made me oppose the asylum seeker system
