Am I too white to understand this tradition? Can an Asian explain why they love watching civilization-ending weapons paraded through Beijing?

Nuclear war is beneficial to the USA. It would make the US population 90% white after the cities are obliterated. The population of the USA is more spread out unlike the population of China which is mostly along their coast. In the event of a nuclear war the USA will nuke countries like Brazil and Mexico that aren’t even actively involved in the conflict as a contingency measure to make sure they don’t rise up in the power vacuum after the war.

Nuclear war wouldn't annihilate the human race. Nuclear weapons are so powerful it's impossible for the human mind to grasp, but they aren't anywhere near powerful enough to destroy all of humanity. It would take multiple nuclear warheads to destroy a single city, and even then it wouldn't be reduced to a crater, there would still be ruins and people inside the city would survive. That isn't to say that nuclear war isn't a nightmare scenario, but life would go on.

Those missiles probably don't actually have nuclear warheads on them right at that time, but even if they did, it wouldn't cause a nuclear explosion. You wouldn't know that from ground zero though, since a dozen ICBMs' have enough rocket fuel that the explosion would very much look nuclear, with a mushroom cloud and everything. It would probably be pretty high on wikipedia's list of largest non nuclear explosions.
