It took me til grad school in a "prestigious" university. I work my ass off to get an A on a final. I get the A. On Canvas you can see the grade range and averages, average was chilling around a 75. I have the highest grade and smash the average. Come to find out my friend that got a 70 something got rounded up to an A. Here is something I would like to point out about higher education today. It's a scam. Since the advent of the internet, higher education is a scam.

I'm old enough to remember the world before the internet. Before the internet if you needed the answer to a question you couldn't just Google it. You had to go to a library or a university to get the answer to your question. Knowledge was stored in different places, it wasn't right at your finger tips like it is today. You had to find a book or someone who knew the answer to your question. The transfer of information was a lot harder then. You needed that professor, you needed a good school with a good library.

Now, anything you want to know is just a few key strokes away. That's all an education ever was, the transfer of information. You had to pay someone or some institution to transfer information to you. Not anymore, you now have all the world's knowledge right at your finger tips. But, people are still going into debt to obtain knowledge. It's a ridiculous scam.

If you got a degree after the internet was a thing and you didn't get some sort of government certificate to go along with it, you got scammed.

School has never been a place for smart people. The truly smart people know that what matters in life is good food, good drinks, sexual pleasure, and a comfy place to sleep. School will brainwash you into believing your life purpose is to get some shitty job or a career that takes you 8 more years of school after finishing high school. Even though I graduated college decades ago from an Ivy, I honestly barely learned all that much from the four (expensive) years. Wrote heaps of papers, but I was already pretty good at that from a good high school. It was literally anecdotes about business from my dad that taught me everything I needed to know to start at a corporate job and rocket through the ranks; I learned everything else on the job as I went.

If you're smart college can easily be a waste, but you DO have to be the sort of smart that seeks out and absorbs knowledge in your day-to-day or you can end up retarded. In my day that piece of paper was still important, though, even if it was obvious the value was already in steep decline.

To touch on both of these. My father had my whole life planned. I was going to Harvard or Yale, he had the money and connections, and I had the grades plus sports and every other thing you could think of. Learning about one book is a pretty expensive lesson but in the end that lesson DID pay for the degree. The joy a family can give you is immeasurable, so is the pain they can give.

I work in oil and gas as a hydraulics specialist and earn over 100k$ nett (450k PLN) in Poland making me top 1% earners in Poland.
I think it worked well for me.
