anon is right thats not science but engineering these assholes keep cutting the science budget while pushing for more money to be spend on ((AI)).
It used to be that big banks and industrialists have foundation to sponsor research but they all stopped hell even the Lehman Brothers CEO used to come to a no name university in Germany and look for interesting projects to fund now no one does it. That stopped like 30 years ago.

Tesla's value has nothing to do with the quality of their cars. They've always been 2nd tier cars for the money. The reason no other model can hold a candle to tesla offerings is fast charge infrastructure access. Take away the supercharger network that tesla singlehandedly implemented and long distance (see trips in excess of 100 miles one way) travel in EVs ceases to be possible. People have always bought teslas because tesla is the only manufacturer for the last decade that can advertise that their cars can be used as a gas car would be with little to no difference in behavior for the end user. BYDs are as useless in the US as nissan leafs were at launch because zero fast charge infrastructure compatible with their battery tech exists here, and realistically it doesn't even exist in china either.

Why are Republicant's like that?
Tesla isn’t the only company making electric cars; Ford, General Motors, Rivian, and Lucid make them too.

SpaceX isn’t the only one going to space; NASA, Blue Origin, and Rocket Lab USA do it too.
NextEra Energy, First Solar, and Sunrun make green energy too.

Boston Dynamics, iRobot, and Zebra Technologies make robots too.

Cars (electric & green):
Jaguar Land Rover (Jaguar I-PACE is a fully electric SUV)

Rockets / Space:
Skyrora (developing small satellite launchers in Scotland)
Orbex (building an eco-friendly, reusable micro-launch rocket in the UK)

From the data that's been gathered so far it seems that total charge cycles on a pack have more of an impact on its degradation than the rate they were charged assuming the thermal management is under control. Within reason of course. There have been a bunch of teslas used for luxury taxi services over the years which get hammered harder than any personal owner could even dream of and their packs last in excess of 200k miles before seeing pack degradation to the point where it actually noticeably affects total range. And that's a use case where they're driving them in the boiling heat pretty much nonstop day in and day out with 1-3 max speed fast charging sessions a day. Tesla packs don't charge as fast as some competitors do but that may well be a deliberate measure to stay conservative with max charge rates to keep owners from climbing very far up the degradation per charge cycle curve that rapidly goes exponential as charge rate increases. I don't think much is known about BYD's battery chemistry or exactly what they're doing to squeeze the insane chargerates they've shown in demonstrations but my money says they haven't made a generational breakthrough in battery chemistry, they're just redlining the fuck out of the packs to build hype and the real product in customer hands will never charge at even a third the speeds they've shown so far.
