>boomers have the highest share of three bedroom homes
>millenials have the lowest share

How are we supposed to fix this? I can't afford anything more than a one bedroom and my parents converted their two extra bedrooms into a work station for each of themselves.

Boomers are legendary bad. People 500 years from now will still be telling about them and their bullshit.

I remember in high school we were told our generation will be the first generation to have worse living standards than our parents. I thought that was just doom and gloom. 15 years later and it's true.

I understand why people don’t have kids in this context. I didn’t have my own room until I was 17. I subconsciously decided that, when I became a dad, I would have enough rooms for each kid to have their own. I’m able to afford that in the midwest with a stem degree. A huge part of the problem is how kids were encouraged to get a degree in something they’re passionate about. I know two music majors. One works in insurance, and the other is a stay at home mom. The mom lucked out by finding a guy who provides for her. Generally these people had no idea how oversaturated those industries are. I play the guitar every day but I knew I didn’t play it nearly enough to make it a career. There’s plenty of blame to be placed on others, but what happens next? Nothing. We are all responsible for our own lives.

Now do the same graph but don’t count mortgages(because the bank owns these houses).

It makes me rage when Americans say “I bought a home”, when they actually only signed a mortgage for it and got raped financially

It's a trap for boomers and Gen Y. I bought way too much house 15 years ago with an inheritance. My taxes are locked in at the rate I bought plus 3 percent per year ($1800). I can't buy a different home or I will be socked with the full price tax bill ($4000). Same with homeowners insurance, I have a much lower premium now than the guy who buys my house from me.

And, all the houses on the market are the shittiest ones atm. Your parents are right keeping a shit kid like you out of their house. Most Millennials and Zoomers are going to inherit fortunes from their boomer rents, but I sure hope not an ungrateful fuck like you.

don't be a retard. mortgage owners have full legal rights over their property. the banks can't do shit unless you can't pay your bills and even then there's a lot of options you have in the meantime. what actually prevents true home ownership is taxation
